Jim is a life long Arkansan. Born in Searcy, Arkansas, Jim moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1983, where he graduated from North Little Rock Northeast High School. After graduating college from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Jim moved back to Little Rock to attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Bowen) School of Law. After law school, Jim moved back to North Little Rock where he raised his two children. When not practing law, Jim enjoys hunting, fishing, playing golf and kayaking the Buffalo River.

Jim has argued before the Arkansas Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals, Eight Circuit. He has served as special judge in Pulaski County District Courts as well as Pulaski County Circuit Court. He has been a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) speaker at numerous criminal law seminars, and serves as lead attorney on capital murder death penalty cases, as well as all other felony cases across the state of Arkansas. In addition to his state court practice, Jim also practices in federal court, where he has handled a wide range of federal criminal cases, including drug cases, white collar fraud, federal health care fraud and murder.
